Faces Unveiled

Gallerie degli Uffizi
Italy, Florence
December 15, 2011 - January 29, 2012

Days of exhibition

The exhibition is curated by Fabrizio Paolucci and Valentina Conticelli. It presents a central segment of the Uffizi’s collection of classical sculpture, from portraits of emperors to private citizens, to the public again. It is the first time that the public will see the 44 busts that make up the “Series of Caesars in Marble”, some of the most beautiful portraits in the Uffizi’s vast collection. These works are referenced in almost every manual of Roman art, and will offer visitors a glimpse into the origins and evolutions of portraiture. These will be displayed alongside twenty-three portraits and self portraits on canvas and paper.
