An exquisite selection of works from the Peterhof State Museum in St Petersburg narrates the history of Tsar Peter the Great. Works on display include the throne that belonged to Catherine II, portraits of the royal family and masterpieces from the Peterhof collection. The Tsar was particularly attached to his summer home, which he personally designed and commissioned in the early 18th-century. The exhibition is organized in three sections that show the construction and modifications to the Palace and its inhabitants. The influence of the West in its art and architecture is evident.
