Timeless Verses: Renaissance and Baroque Masterpieces from Galleria Borghese

The exhibition “Timeless Verses. Renaissance and Baroque Masterpieces from Galleria Borghese” brings to China 55 Artworks - sculptures and paintings - from the collection of the Galleria Borghese in Rome: from Raphael to Titian and Rubens, it is a journey through the history of Western Art from the Renaissance throughout the Baroque, in the footsteps of Cardinal Scipione Borghese.

The visitors are led on an itinerary retracing the history of European art over two centuries, analyzing some of the main themes of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, focusing on the study of antiquity and nature, myth and faith in painting, but, at the same time, highlighting the different pictorial styles corresponding to the different origins of the artists.

The exhibition opening is held on the occasion of the opening of the new prestigious venue of the Guangdong Museum of Art in Guangzhou’s Baietan district.
