Days of exhibition
Collaborating with the HKMoA, The Road to the Baroque - Masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum is the Capodimonte Museum's debut exhibition in Hong Kong. Featuring 40 Neapolitan paintings from the collection of the Capodimonte Museum, including religion, saints, mythology, still life and landscape paintings of 16th and 17th century masters such as Titian, Annibale Carracci and Artemisia Gentileschi, the exhibition invites visitors to experience the charm and magnificence of Baroque art.
Characterised by the dramatic contrast of light and shadow, exaggerated movement and pronounced figures' facial expressions, 17th century Italian Baroque art focuses on high tension and realistic representations of emotions. Immersive Soundscapes have been developed by musicians from Collegium Musicum Hong Kong, presenting a series of innovative concerts around the "sound-paintings" that will tickle one’s imagination.
The exhibition, one of the events celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, will run from July 15 to November 2 at the HKMoA. The exhibition is exclusively sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the MiC - Italian Ministry of Culture, and jointly organised by the HKMoA and the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte. In collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong, the exhibition is supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong.
