A collection of Treasured Art from the 16th to the 20th Century
Elegant cocktail and evening dresses, in silk, velvet, or taffeta, beaded or decorated with tulle and mother-of-pearl: these are some of the Italian fashion creations that can be admired inside the exhibition Starry Dream. A collection of Treasured Art from the 16th to the 20th Century, which opened to the public at the Changsha Museum on June 01st.
The exhibition features more than 300 precious jewels and accessories, with a selection of Artworks dating from the 16th to the 20th century, sourced from important Chinese and international collections, celebrating a universal passion for elegance and beauty.
Among the objects on display, six dresses stand out: they are original pieces, dating back to the 1920s, 1930s, and 1950s, from the Atelier Annamode. Founded in the 1940s by the Allegri sisters, their creations were able to conquer both Italian Haute Couture and Neorealist filmmakers in Cinecittà. The archive of the Foundation of the same name continues its tailoring activity to this day alongside the promotion of fashion, costume, high craftsmanship and Made in Italy.
This exhibition at Changsha Museum brings together jewellery, clothes, and accessories from all over the world, creating a dialogue with Chinese artefacts and highlighting connections and cultural exchanges between China and the West over four centuries.
