The works produced by Lotto during his period in the Marche region symbolize one a significant moment for his art. Devotional paintings and profane portraits represent the artist’s extraordinary and eccentric biographical journey. The exhibition, curated by Gabriele Barucca, presents nine masterpieces: a votive tablet of St. James the Pilgrim; the Portrait of Lucina Brembiati; the two tablets with the announcing Angel and the announced Virgin; the paintings depicting the Madonna and Child; the Madonna and Child with Saints; a small canvas depicting Saint Roch and the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple. Alongside this selection, a dozen other of Lotto’s works that were borrowed from Italian churches and museums.
