Curated Art Collections from the 16th to 20th Century

At the Guangdong Museum, an extraordinary selection of over 300 jewelry pieces, accessories, and collectibles celebrates the universal passion for elegance and beauty, featuring works from the 16th to the 20th century, sourced from prestigious Chinese and international collections. The exhibition Lingering Gaze: Curated Art Collections from the 16th to the 20th Century brings together masterpieces from around the world, creating a fascinating dialogue with Chinese artifacts and highlighting the cultural connections between China and the West over the course of four centuries.

Among the exhibits, six evening dresses from the Annamode Atelier stand out. Founded in the 1940s by the Allegri sisters, their creations, which captivated both Italian high fashion and the costume designers of Cinecittà's Neorealism, include original pieces from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1950s. These dresses come from the Annamode Foundation's archive, which promotes the culture of fashion, costume, craftsmanship, and Made in Italy, supporting the historic atelier in preserving and enhancing the heritage of haute couture.

The exhibition thus creates an engaging dialogue between clothing, jewelry, and accessories, highlighting the connections and cultural exchanges between China and the West over four centuries.
