Days of exhibition

«I am a painter. When people ask me how I do it, I reply: 'I am'» With these words, Leonor Fini encapsulates the power of her artistic identity, a unique and powerful statement that transcends time.

Ninety years after her debut in Milan, the city celebrates the artist with the exhibition I Am Leonor Fini, hosted at Palazzo Reale from February 26. The event brings together over 100 works, including paintings, drawings, photographs, costumes and videos, offering the public a comprehensive portrait of this revolutionary and multifaceted figure.

Leonor Fini embodied creative and intellectual freedom, refusing to be known through the lens of personal relationships or subordinate roles. Her strength lies in her individuality and her ability to shape a unique artistic language, where the woman is not a muse but the protagonist.

Her female figures, primordial and untamed forces, challenge conventional models of masculinity and femininity, while her works, suspended between reality and imagination, offer a profound and contemporary reflection on themes such as gender, identity, and self-affirmation. Anticipating debates that are central to today’s culture, Leonor Fini stood out as a pioneering artist, skillfully weaving together art, fashion, literature, and performance in a path free from any convention.

Far from any rigid label, including that of the Surrealist movement, Leonor Fini continues to speak to us through her works, inviting us to step into a universe where mystery, dreams, and imagination become tools for exploration.
