Days of exhibition
The exhibition features 100 works by three Masters of the Floating World: Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Hiroshige and Kawase Hasui. Curated by Rossella Menegazzo and Sarah E. Thompson, the exhibition is divided into four sections. “From Edo to Tokyo: Views of the Eastern Capital” features One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, Hiroshige's last work. “Traveling along the streets of Japan” includes prints from the most important series by Hokusai and Hiroshige. “Places of Poetry” is comprised of works from Hokusai’s series dedicated to classic Chinese and Japanese poetry. “Views of Mount Fuji” closes the exhibition with a pilgrimage to the place that most symbolises Japan. Hokusai’s famous Thirty-six views of Mount Fuji are central to this section, including The Great Wave off Kanagawa and South Wind, Clear Sky (Red Fuji).
