Frida Kahlo

This is the first exhibition retrospective on the Mexican artist to be presented in Italy. It is curated by Helga Prignitz-Poda, the author of the artist's catalogue raisonné. It features exceptional loans of some of Kahlo’s greatest works from public and private collections in Mexico, Europe and the United States. Almost 130 paintings and drawings trace Kahlo’s entire life and career. These include over forty portraits and self-portraits, amongst which the Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird from 1940. Also included are the drawing of the 1932 Henry Ford Hospital (The Flying Bed) painting and the plaster that Frida had to wear after her accident. The exhibition also features a real fetish of herself, which Kahlo painted before she even started painting portraits and which was believed to be lost until recently.
