The main theme in this exhibition is the intense and significant exchange that took place between Italian and Chinese culture, starting from the origins of their history up to the Renaissance. A multicultural approach will demonstrate how commerce led to the dissemination of Chinese influence in Italian Renaissance art and Western influences in Chinese art. The selection of masterpieces on loan from Italian and Chinese museums will show the enormous mutual influences that are evident in art but also in documents, manuscripts and maps, evoking a sense of familiarity that will make visitors feel at home. The exhibition is the result of collaboration between forty-eight national and international museums, and brings China and Italy together within a single museum by displaying 250 precious objects from their collections.
