From Donatello to Lippi

The exhibition is curated by Andrea De Marchi and Cristina Gnoni Mavarelli. Its original aim was to return works by the “Masters of the Renaissance” to Prato, and it succeeded at reconstituting works that had been dismembered over the years. These include the Madonna that Zanobi Strozzi originally painted for the Duomo and which is now in Dublin, and its predella at the Palazzo Pretorio Museum, as well as the Faltugnano altarpiece by the Master of the Castello Nativity now at the Opera del Duomo and the fragments of its predella from the National Gallery in London and the Johnson Collection in Philadelphia. The exhibition also features the Budapest altarpiece by Fra Diamante, from the Oratorio di San Lorenzo, as well as a selection of works by Filippo Lippi from his youth and his return to Prato.
