Curators Lu Minghua, Zhang Dong and Peng Tao of Shanghai Museum present ancient Chinese porcelain from the Shanghai Museum for the first time in Italy. The museum is one of the most important institutions in China, and bears a precious testimony to Chinese manufacture between the 10th and 19th centuries. The exhibition is composed of seventy-four precious ancient porcelains from different time periods. From the great diversity and fine porcelain of the Song and Yuan dynasties (930-1368) to Ming porcelain (1368-1644) to the imperial kilns of Jingdezhen to the more recent Qing (1644-1911) production, which represents the art forms greatest achievements and full maturity. China, from whence the etymology of the term, is the place where, more than any other in the world, the art of porcelain reached its pinnacle.
