Russian Collections from Renoir to Matisse
Ščukin and Morozov were two Russian collectors who were first hand witnesses to all the innovation that characterized European art at the turn of the centuries. Universal exhibitions, the dawn of photography, en plein air painting, Parisian cafés, the study of extreme form and pure color. Throughout the years, Ščukin and Morozov become the best customers of the most important galleries in Paris, such as Druet, Durand-Ruel, Kahnweiler, Vollard. The exhibition, curated by Caterina Bon Valsassina, Sandrina Bandera, and Irina Antonova presents an exceptional selection of masterpieces by Cézanne, Gauguin, Monet, Matisse, Renoir, Picasso, Rousseau and Van Gogh from the Ščukin and Morozov collectiond now held at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow.
